Obituary for William "Bill" Milton Lawrence

William “Bill” Milton Lawrence, 81 of Corliss WV, passed on August 7, 2019 at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long illness of IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). Born July 14, 1938, he was the youngest of six children born to the late George and Gertrude Lawrence.
Bill retired from C&P Telephone (Verizon) after 30 years of service and Tractor Supply after 8 years of service. He was a Veteran, serving 3 years of service in the Army and Army Reserves 5 years. He was a member of Big Sewell Baptist Church, as Superintendent, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. Favorite hobby, talking on his HAM radio, visiting with his coffee net friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Wayne, Wimpy, and Johnny, and sisters Marie and Margie. His son, William (Willie) Milton Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory; his wife Brenda of 53 years, daughter Phenia (Steve) Simmons of Scott Depot, WV, grandsons William (Will) Joshua of Rocky Step, Scott Depot, WV and Bryce Alan of Scott Depot, WV.
Special thanks to: Our Pastor Rev. Kermit Hunter and our church family for visits and cards of encouragement. Rev Justin Seay for his visits and prayers, Kenny and Bonnie Simms for taking care of our place, Robin and Terri Ellis love and prayers, Keeney family’s love and prayers, and for our wonderful neighbors and friends for all their love and prayers. A special thank you to Dr. Clark Adkins for the many faithful visits he shared with Bill, he always looked forward to seeing Clark (whether Clark was doing surgeries or patient visits). Clark always took the time to visit Bill, and was there to comfort us when Bill passed.
Thank you to the many doctors and nurses that took excellent care of Bill, and going the extra mile to make him comfortable, as he suffered thru this horrific disease. They always had a smile, and would say “Bill, how are you?” Sometimes he would respond, “I was better, but I got over that…”
Bill suffered from this terrible disease and on August 7, 2019, God said you have suffered long enough; it’s time for you to come Home. I can only imagine what a sight it was, when (our son) Willie saw Dad coming and run to meet him, and among friends and loved ones Bill is still visiting with. Bill has been healed from all his pain and suffering and I want to praise God and thank Him for this great blessing.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 14th at 3:00pm at the Wallace and Wallace funeral chapel with Pastors Kermit Hunter and Justin Seay officiating. Visitation for friends will be from 1:00pm until time of the service. Interment will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Corliss.
All arrangements are being conducted by Wallace and Wallace, Rainelle, WV.
