Obituary for Robert Clowney Bays

Robert Clowney Bays, 92, of Alma, AR, formerly of Russellville, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019.
Born May 1, 1926, in Russellville, W.V., he was the son of the late Grover and Clara Haynes Bays.
Preceded in death by a sister, Louise; three brothers, Haynes, John D. and Sam.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Bays of the home; two sons, Bobby and Bruce; a sister-in-law, Arlene Bays.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a graduate of West Virginia University at Morgantown. His profession as a pharmaceutical representative took him to several states to reside, until he accepted early retirement from Dow Chemical to reside in Fort Smith. There he worked for five years at Mercy Hospital before final retirement.
He was a member of Parkway Christian Church in Plantation, Fla., for 17 years, where he served as a deacon and an elder, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was chairman of several functional committees. In Fort Smith, he was a member of First Christian Church, where he served as a deacon and actively served on several functional committees.
Memorial graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Cemetery Hill Cemetery, Quinwood-Nutterville Rd., Russellville, W.V. with Pastor Randolph Simms officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Cemetery Hill Cemetery Fund, 1865 Quinwood-Nutterville Rd., Nallen WV 26680.
