Pastor Jim Luchsinger, 68, of Orient Hill passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Peyton Hospice House.
He was born on September 30, 1950, in Pennsylvania; he was the son of the late Harold Luchsinger and Sarah “Peg” Kiser Luchsinger.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his sister, Betsy Lucas.
Jim was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps who served in the Vietnam War. He had been the Pastor of Smoot Baptist Church since 1992. His special place was Camp Wheaton. He was an avid fisherman and a big Pittsburgh sports fan who also loved trains.
Survivors include his wife, Shari Luchsinger of Orient Hill; daughters, Stacie (Ricky) Simms of Orient Hill, Crisey (Robert) Holliday of Smoot; son, Brian Luchsinger at home; grandchildren, Austin Simms, Natalie Simms and Seamus Holliday; mother, Peg Luchsinger of Tarentum, Pa; sisters, Cheryl (Gary) McGuire and Cathy Koger both of Tarentum, Pa; Kegan and Kain Smith , Kolten Rudd whom he regarded as his great grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews along with his church congregation who were all just like family to him.
Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2019 at Smoot Baptist Church with Pastor Tim McClung and Pastor John Wyatt officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Nettie. Friends may call 6-8 p.m., Sunday evening at the church.
