Obituary for Gaye Rodgers Sizemore

Gaye Rodgers Sizemore of Sinks Grove, WV, passed away on August 3, 2019. at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.

She was born on December 26, 1938, at Colonial Picture Farm near Organ Cave, WV, to the late Frank G. Rodgers and Roberta Patton Rodgers.

Gaye attended Organ Cave Elementary School and graduated from Greenbrier High School. She attended National Business College in Roanoke, Va. Upon completion of her education, she returned to Ronceverte and bought out her father’s business partner in what is now Rodgers Fairlea Equipment Company. She faithfully worked in this business for over 60 years.

She was a lifetime supporter of 4-H, FFA and Farm Bureau and loved yard sales and antiques. She owned Bittersweet Antiques and Collectables. As a member of Lewisburg United Methodist Church she sang in the choir, and participated in other church ministries. She was a member of the Ronceverte Business and Professional Women’s Club for many years. Her sole focus in life was service above self, which included taking care of her family, and visiting anyone who needed a hug, humor, encouragement, and a smile.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Sizemore, sister, Sylvia Rodgers Jones, brother-in-laws, John Lawler, Samuel Jones and Jack Rappeport, and sister-in-law Nancy Sizemore.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Elizabeth (Beth) Blackwell and husband Ben, sisters, Ginger Rodgers Rappeport and Richee Pat Rodgers, brothers Robert Rodgers (Linda) and John Rodgers (Kaye), and granddaughters Amy Blackwell Messersmith (Nick) and Emma Blackwell. Brothers-in-law, Mike Sizemore (Judy) and David Sizemore and stepson Tony Sizemore. Along with several nieces and nephews.

Per Gaye’s wishes, her body was donated to the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 am at Lewisburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Tim Halloran officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lewisburg United Methodist Church and Peyton Hospice House
