Obituary for Allan Harold Olson

Allan Harold Olson, 80, of Lewisburg, WV passed away Tuesday morning at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

Mr. Olson was born September 18, 1938 in Greenwich, CT and was the son of the late Axel Ragnar Olson and Svea Maria Johansson Olson.

Dr. Olson was a graduate of Greenwich High School and Columbia University with a B.S. in Chemistry. He received his PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin in 1967. In a 30 year career as a research scientist at E.I. DuPont’s Washington Works in Parkersburg, WV, he received several patents for work involving industrial uses of Teflon. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and member of Trout Unlimited.

Surviving are his wife Carol Roper Olson; daughters, Kristin Marie Olson (Petr Jedlicka) and Jane Anne Olson; sister, Annette Louise Olsson ; grandchildren, Julia Sky Olson, Anya Nova Olson and Benjamin Olson Jedlicka; and nephews John K. Pennell and David A. Pennell.

Allan was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He was a chemist’s chemist, a master fly tyer and devoted fly fisherman.

Per Allan’s wishes he will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
