Clifford Guy Mayes, 90, of Cass, WV passed away Thursday May 17, 2012 at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV

Mr. Mayes was born October 27, 1921 in Thornwood and was the son of the late Floyd Marshall and Katherine Morris Mayes.

Mr. Mayes was a member of the VFW, retired from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and was an Army Veteran of World War II.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo White Mayes, and a son, James Leroy Mayes.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Renalda Duncan and husband Lyle of S. Charleston, WV, 2 granddaughters, Rae Duncan-Carpenter and husband Scottie of Cross Lanes, WV and Janna Creasy and husband Eric of Dunbar, WV, great grandchildren, Bradley Creasy and Baylee Carpenter, and a brother, Robert Mayes of Oxford, NY.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, May 20, 2012 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale, WV.
Burial with the Pocahontas County Honor Corp. will follow at the Arbovale Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday.
